HC Deb 25 March 1988 vol 130 c266W
Mr. Cartwright

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement about the progress of negotiations to end industrial action on the Woolwich ferry.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The London borough of Greenwich is still trying to negotiate a settlement with the work force. I am meeting the leader of Greenwich borough council on 28 March to discuss the position.

Mr. Cartwright

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many crossings have been lost as a result of industrial action on the Woolwich ferry between 1 April 1987 and the most recent convenient date.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Too many. Up to 24 March about 33,000 crossings have been lost.
