HC Deb 25 March 1988 vol 130 cc245-6W
Mr. Amos

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will publish the fourth report of the Independent Scientific Committee on Smoking and Health; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Currie

I refer my hon. Friend to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Brigg and Cleethorpes (Mr. Brown) on 23 March at columns158–59.

Mr. John Morris

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he proposes to take any action with regard to the failure of Manhattan 100s cigarettes to carry information on their tar band.

Mrs. Currie

I believe the right hon. Member is referring to a brand called United. As my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State informed him in his letter of 10 March, the matter is currently being investigated by the Committee for Monitoring Agreements on Tobacco Advertising and Sponsorship and the chairman, Sir Peter Lazarus, will write to him as soon as investigations are completed. Manhattan 100s do carry tar band information.
