Such figures as are available for residential accommodation in the community reflect the total provision made by local authorities and voluntary bodies for mentally handicapped and mentally ill people already in the community as well as for ex-patients of mental hospitals. Provision of places for people with specific mental illnesses is not identified separately. The numbers of residential places made available in each of the last 10 years by local authorities and voluntary bodies was as follows:
