HC Deb 24 March 1988 vol 130 c224W
45. Mr. Turner

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what discussions he has had with United States firms on the effect of the MacBride campaign on United States investments in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Stanley

Ministers in the Northern Ireland Office have discussed the MacBride campaign with United States firms on a number of occasions, including during my recent visit to the United States earlier this month. In those discussions we have made clear our view that the campaign will do nothing to promote new United States investment in Northern Ireland with adverse consequences for those who are currently unemployed.
