Q92. Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Prime Minister whether, on the initiative of Her Majesty's Government, as one of the jointly responsible governing powers for Greater Berlin and in pursuit of joint rights and responsibilities for the security of Greater Berlin, she will institute an inquiry into the alleged abuse of diplomatic facilities in the Soviet sector of Berlin, in the light of evidence at the trial of Christina Endrigkeit; and what has been the result of Her Majesty's Government's close contact with the Soviet authorities since April 1986 on this matter.

The Prime Minister

No. The allied powers with responsibility for Berlin have made clear to the Soviet Union their position on this matter. It is not our practice to reveal details of confidential exchanges.
