HC Deb 24 March 1988 vol 130 cc210-1W
Mr. Goodlad

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the number of(a) physiotherapists, (b) speech therapists, (c) radiographers, (d) chiropodists, (e) occupational therapists. (f) dieticians and (g) laboratory technicians employed by (i) the Crewe health authority, (ii) the Chester health authority and (iii) the Halton health authority in each of the last five years.

Mr. Newton

The information is shown in the table.

Mr. Newton

I refer my hon. Friend to my reply to him on 8 March, at columns176.7.

Mr. Goodlad

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the projected levels of funding for the next three years for(a) the Crewe, (b) the Chester and (c) the Halton health districts, expressing year-on-year changes as a percentage in both cash and real terms.

Mrs. Currie

The funding of Crewe, Chester and Halton health authorities is a matter for the Mersey regional health authority. I understand that the region will be issuing revised financial guidelines to districts soon, and my hon. Friend may care to contact the regional chairman for this information.

Mr. Goodlad

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what were the bed occupancy rates in each specialty in each hospital in(a) the Crewe, (b) the Chester and (c) the Halton health districts in 1987.

Mrs. Currie

Information about bed availability and bed occupancy is not yet centrally available for 1987. The information which will form part of the new information set recommended by the steering group on health services information will be available later this year and will relate to the financial year 1987–88. Data on bed usage will in future relate to ward classification rather than specialty and will reflect the number of unfinished ward stays at a specific point in time which will assist in estimating daily bed usage.
