To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many teachers of the deaf are being trained in Scotland in the academic year 1987–88; and how many will be trained in the academic year 1988–89.

Five teachers of the deaf are being trained in Scotland in the present academic year. Decisions have not yet been reached on the intake of students for 1988–89.
