HC Deb 23 March 1988 vol 130 c136W
Mr. Dickens

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make it his policy to recall a number of those units of the British Army currently serving in Northern Ireland to a mainland location from where they could readily reinforce the troops remaining in Northern Ireland in the event of an emergency.

Mr. Ian Stewart

No. Force levels in Northern Ireland are kept constantly under review, and no reductions are currently planned.
