HC Deb 23 March 1988 vol 130 c121W
Mr. Sheerman

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when his Department plans to instruct the Property Services Agency to repair the fountain of the Charles Buxton memorial in the Victoria gardens.

Mr. Chope

The water supply to the drinking fountain in the memorial to Sir Thomas Powell Buxton has been turned off since 1980 because the design of the memorial makes it expensive and difficult to maintain the necessary standard of hygiene in the water supply to satisfy standards of public health.
