HC Deb 22 March 1988 vol 130 cc82-3W
Mr. Alexander

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the wage and salary bill for the people employed by Trent regional health authority on administrative duties in each year since 1982.

Mr. Newton

Following is information for the total salaries and wages costs of all staff within the purview of the administrative and clerical Whitley Council (for example, chief ambulance officers, computer and finance staff, legal advisers, supplies managers, storekeeper clerks, and so on) derived specifically from the annual accounts of the Trent regional health authority.

All regional health authorities provide specialist support functions for their regions as a whole and the Trent regional health authority also directly manages certain ambulance and blood transfusion services which include elements of staff exemplified above. For more detailed information my hon. Friend may wish to contact the chairman of the Trent regional health authority who may be able to assist.
