To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his Department's policy guidance to police authorities regarding the provision of names of people who admit to crimes and who are serving terms of imprisonment; and if he will make a statement.

We have issued no guidance to police authorities about the provision of names of people who admit to crimes and who are serving terms of imprisonment. The disclosure of police information is a matter for individual chief officers.
