§ Mr. SainsburyMy Department carries out research at the chemical defence establishment, Porton Down, into defensive measures to protect our armed forces against attack by chemical weapons. The work falls into three main areas: the detection of chemical agents; the protection of personnel and equipment; and therapy, including both pre-treatment to increase the body's natural resistance and treatment after exposure.
