§ Mr. William RossTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list in theOfficial Report the names of the persons recommended to him by the Government of the Irish Republic under article 6 of the Anglo-Irish Agreement, indicating how many so recommended were resident in (a) the Irish Republic, and (b) Northern Ireland; how many and whom he has appointed; and to which positions.

The names of persons willing to serve on public bodies, including persons suggested through the Anglo-Irish Secretariat, are held in a central register. Persons are selected from this register because of their suitability for the proposed appointment and the contribution which they are likely to make to the work of the public body concerned. It is not my practice to publish details of individuals so appointed.
All the persons suggested through the Anglo-Irish Secretariat are resident in Northern Ireland. I do, of course, welcome recommendations from all organisations and individuals, including elected members, in Northern Ireland for people of ability who could serve on public bodies.
