HC Deb 21 March 1988 vol 130 cc1-2W
Mr. David Nicholson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals his Department has to revise or update planning guidance on gipsy sites, including specifying the varying responses which local authorities should make to applications for(a) individual plots of land for use by a gipsy and (b) sites for gipsy encampments.

Mrs. Roe

My Department has no immediate plans to revise or update planning guidance on gipsy sites, though the matter is kept under review. In his statement to the House of 6 February last year my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State said that the need for gipsy sites would continue to be a material consideration in planning decisions.
