To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give details of the total financial contribution made by his Department to the G-Mex exhibition centre in greater Manchester; and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will detail his involvement with the G-Mex centre in Manchester; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Trippier

My involvement with the G-Mex Centre in Manchester has been to provide urban programme funding of £8.9 million towards an estimated main project cost of £23.7 million and a further UP contribution of £0.9 million towards the cost of landscaping and other works on the site. I retain a continuing interest as there is a provision for grant to be paid back if sufficient income is generated.
