§ Mr. WallaceTo ask the Secretary of State for Energy whether Dounreay has been in receipt of any consignments of nuclear waste(a) before May 1979 and (b) since May 1979.
§ Mr. Michael Spicer[holding answer 14 March 1988]: Since 1986, some 423 cu m of wastes arising from the development of fast reactor fuels at Sellafield have been moved to Dounreay. Prior to 1986 very small quantities of waste totalling less than 7 cu m and arising mainly from work undertaken in support of the Dounreay programme were transferred from other UK AEA sites to Dounreay. Small quantities of waste are transferred regularly to Dounreay from the adjacent Vulcan naval reactor test establishment.
