HC Deb 21 March 1988 vol 130 c48W
Mr. Menzies Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on progress on the adoption of Viscount Colville's recommendation that cases of robbery and aggravated burglary should not be tried in Diplock courts.

Mr. Stanley

During the debate, on 25 February, on the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Acts (Continuance) Order at column 475, my right hon. Friend said that we certainly want to see as many jury trials as we can and that we shall be considering Lord Colville's suggestion of removing robbery and aggravated burglary from the scheduled list. That consideration is continuing.
