To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what was the average number of hours of communication support required by a YTS trainee under the communication service for the deaf.

Mr. Cope

Information on the average number of communication support required by YTS trainees is not available. Communication support is provided for a maximum of 500 hours per trainee over a two-year scheme. Trainees' use of this resource varies according to their individual needs.
