Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will publish the total spent on health care in the United Kingdom for each year since 1979, in absolute terms and as a percentage of gross national product.

The table shows for 1979 to 1986 total, net public and private expenditure on health care on the United Kingdom in both absolute terms and as a percentage of gross domestic product. The data have been derived from Central Statistical Office national accounts.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has as to the total cost of health care in France and Germany as a percentage of each country's own gross national product for each year since 1979.
