To ask the Attorney-General what representations he has received concerning delays in conveyancing procedures; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

From time to time the Lord Chancellor receives representations from hon. Members and others about delays in conveyancing procedures. Through its practice recommendations, explanatory guides and consultation papers the Conveyancing Standing Committee, set up in 1985 by the Law Commission at the Government's request, seeks to promote changes in practice and procedure to make conveyancing simpler, cheaper, quicker and more effective.
