To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he proposes to publish the conclusions of his review, of the role of the civil defence college, Easingwold.

The results of the review are under consideration; no decision has yet been taken on publication.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Eastbourne (Mr. Gow) of 10 July,Official Report, columns 307–8, if the review of the United Kingdom warning and monitoring organisation will take into account the need for the introduction of measures to alert the public against local peace time emergencies.

The review is principally concerned with wartime arrangements, but their possible relevance to peacetime emergencies is also being considered.

The review is expected to be completed in the next few months, and consideration will then be given to the extent to which its conclusions can be made available.
