HC Deb 16 March 1988 vol 129 cc600-1W
44. Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what assessment he has made of the public health implications of his decision to leave to the discretion of local authorities whether they collect or dispose of waste from non-domestic premises; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moynihan

The decisions on the classification of commercial and industrial waste reflect the existing collection practices of the majority of local authorities. Because of this, we do not believe that the decisions on classification carry any public health implications.
