HC Deb 16 March 1988 vol 129 c618W
Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will now take urgent steps to designate the Ardilea river, County Down as a salmonid river under the EEC directive 78/759/EEC; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Needham

[holding answer 15 March 1988]: The Ardilea river will be considered along with other rivers for future designation under the EEC directive 78/659/EEC. As I pointed out to the hon. Gentleman on 1 March 1988, at column 524, further disignations will be made as resources permit. I am unable at present to say when further designations will be made.
