HC Deb 15 March 1988 vol 129 cc525-6W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what benefits are paid by his Department to widows of service men killed in world war 2.

Mr. Freeman

All widows who lost their husbands in action in world war 2 receive a war widow's pension from the Department of Health and Social Security. Additional pensions are paid by the Ministry of Defence to the widows of warrant officers class I and equivalents and to the widows of commissioned officers, where certain qualifications were met, including the completion by the husband of the appropriate minimum period of qualifying service.
