HC Deb 15 March 1988 vol 129 cc518-9W
56. Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons in Scotland who were granted parole in 1985 and 1986 whose original offence involved violence, sexual assault or robbery were sentenced again (a) during the period of their parole licence or (b) within 12 months of the expiration of that licence.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[pursuant to his reply, 8 March 1988, c. 146]: Information on the numbers of persons convicted within 12 months of their parole licence expiring are not collected centrally; the other information requested could be compiled only at disproportionate cost.

However, figures for the number of persons released on parole or life licence reported for breaches of licence conditions and issued with recall orders are given in the annual reports of the Parole Board for Scotland (copies of which are available in the Library). Persons reported for breach of parole or life licence conditions and persons issued with a recall order were not necessarily released on parole or life licence in the same year.
