HC Deb 14 March 1988 vol 129 c450W
Mr. Alan Williams

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales when his Department was first notified of the possibility of the closure of the high dependency unit at St. Tydfil's hospital, Merthyr; when it was told that a decision to close it had been taken; and how many representations he has received about the closure.

Mr. Grist

The Department was first notified of the possibility of the temporary closure of the high dependency unit at St. Tydfil's hospital in December 1987 and was told in January that a decision to close had been taken. Since the closure is temporary, there was no requirement on the authority to obtain my approval. I have received three representations about the closure.
