HC Deb 14 March 1988 vol 129 cc477-8W
30. Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if, in the light of recent prosecutions arising from attacks on women in or near railway stations, he will be issuing, or revising guidelines to organisations providing public transport, concerning staffing levels, operating procedures and user's personal safety; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

Staffing levels and operating procedures are for public transport operators to determine in the light of their business objectives and statutory obligations. The policing of BR and LUL stations is a matter for the British Transport police who maintain close links with the operators.
