§ Mr. Ken HargreavesTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is his latest information on the case of Mr. Raoul Wallenberg; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MellorThe Soviet authorities have maintained since 1957 that Mr. Wallenberg died in prison in 1947. There have been reports over the years suggesting that Mr. Wallenberg may have been alive and in prison in the Soviet Union considerably later than 1947, but these accounts were never confirmed. We have frequently pressed the Soviet Union for a full account of the fate of Mr. Wallenberg, including, if he did indeed die in 1947, a detailed statement of the manner in which he died. The Soviet authorities have not so far provided adequate information.
§ Mr. AmessTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will raise the case of Mr. Raoul Wallenberg with the Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MellorWe have pressed the Soviet authorities on a number of occasions to give a full and frank account of the fate of Raoul Wallenberg and they are well aware of our views in this case.
