Monitoring is continuous and aims to assess not only immediate effects but also the longer term impact. We shall release significant findings, including final results of last year's Christmas campaign, as they become available.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what proportion of car drivers and motor cyclists who die in crashes and collisions between 10 pm and 4 am are over the legal limit of alcohol.

The proportion of car drivers and motor cycle riders who die in road accidents between 10 pm and 4 am and who have a blood alcohol level in excess of the legal limit is 58 per cent. and 60 per cent., respectively.
