Mr. Freeman

Yes.

Mr. Macdonald

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what account was taken of military jet aircraft carrying out practice approaches, overshoots and practice diversions at RAF Stornoway in the calculation of the 70 dbA noice contour around the airfield.

Mr. Freeman

Full account was taken of military jet aircraft approaching to land in the calculation of the computer—predicted 70 dbA noise contour for RAF Stornoway. Other manoeuvres, including overshoots, were not included in the calculation but will be measured during the forthcoming noise survey.
