HC Deb 11 March 1988 vol 129 c403W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has any plans to give special consideration to the needs of elderly blind people with regard to the new income support scheme; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Scott

Claimants who, or whose partners, are blind will qualify for the higher pensioner premium at age 60 rather than 80. Those claimants whose benefit entitlement under income support is lower than under supplementary benefit will receive transitional protection.

I have no plans for any other provisions.
