§ Mr. AllenTo ask the Lord President of the Council what steps he has taken to satisfy himself of the cost-effectiveness of expenditure in connection with the House for which Ministers are responsible.
§ Mr. WakehamThe cost-effectiveness of expenditure on departmental votes incurred in relation to the work of this House is the responsibility of the individual Ministers concerned. Any proposals for such expenditure are subject to normal parliamentary scrutiny and control.
