§ 59. Mr. Teddy TaylorTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a White Paper setting out in detail the effect on the economy and employment of the common agricultural policy, as set out in the Treasury economic progress report of February.
§ Mr. BrookeI have no present plans to do so. The economic progress report drew on various studies by reputable international bodies of the consequences of agricultural support and protection policies. Full references for these studies, which concerned Japan, the United States and the other OECD countries as well as the EC, were given in the article. In addition, a National Consumer Council study of the CAP, commissioned by DTI, will be published later this year.
