To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how much regional development grant has been paid to the north-west region in respect of the tourism industry in the past 12 months.

Data on payments of regional development grants are held by reference to the 1980 standard industrial classification. There is no specific code for tourism under this classification. The main activities which make up the tourist industry are not eligible for RDG. It is possible that projects involving activities which are eligible for RDG, such as central services, may be submitted by applicants who are active in the tourist industry, but information on grant paid in such circumstances is not available.
