To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what was the contribution to the United Kingdom balance of trade in 1986–87 of(a) the aerospace industry, (b) information technology and (c) pharmaceutical industries.

§ Mr. Atkins
The crude balance of trade for the sectors listed for the financial year 1986–87 is:

(b) Electronics and Information technology¹ -1,894

(c) Pharmaceuticals +850

The "electronics and information technology" sector has been taken to comprise activity headings 3301/2, 3441–4 and 3453/4 of the Standard Industrial Classification (Revised 1980).
