§ Mr. MarlowTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make statement about progress on the ALARM project.
§ Mr. SainsburyFollowing British Aerospace's decision to adopt a new motor for the air-launched anti-radar missile — ALARM — negotiations were concluded last November between the company and my Department for the continuation of the project. I am glad to be able to say that the company is now satisfied with its work on proving the new motor. As a consequence, under the terms of last November's agreement, a revised contract came into effect on 29 February 1988 providing for the project to continue, with responsibility for success placed on the company under tight fixed price conditions.
