To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how frequently hypothermia is cited as a cause of death; and to what extent the incidence of hypothermia is changing.

The total number of deaths from all causes in England and Wales last year was 560,000. The provisional total of deaths from hypothermia was 581. There has been no particular trend in this total in recent years.
