HC Deb 08 March 1988 vol 129 cc158-9W
18. Sir John Farr

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list in order the three biggest overseas suppliers of drugs to the National Health Service.

Mr. Newton

For the family practitioner services in Great Britain, the three biggest overseas-owned companies supplying drugs to the NHS in 1986 were, CIBA Geigy, Merck Sharp and Dohme, and Bayer in that order. For drugs supplied to the hospital service, aggregate information concerning suppliers is not collected.
