§ Mr. ButlerTo ask the Minister for the Arts if he will make a statement on the implications for his arts funding policy of the Greater London Arts Association's refusal to continue funding the Almeida theatre, in the light of its record on ethnic minority employment.
§ Mr. Luce[holding answer 7 March 1988]: I understand that the Greater London Arts Association has not refused to fund the Almeida threatre, but that its performing arts committee has recommended a grant of £166,000 in 1988–89—12.3 per cent. less than the previous level. This has to be seen in the context of a 10 per cent. cut in the overall budget of the GLA. I note that a meeting has been proposed between the Arts Council and the GLA. I have asked to be informed of the outcome.
