HC Deb 03 March 1988 vol 128 c682W
Mrs. Ray Michie

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has to include local authority schemes for monitoring radiation, including Radmoss in Somerset and Radmil in Lancashire, in his national response plan for any future radiation emergency.

Mr. Moynihan

Local authorities will be able to contribute data to the national radiation monitoring system provided they have been collected and supplied according to agreed procedures. Further details of the arrangements are given in the Government's statement of "National Response Plan" proposals published earlier this year. Copies of the publication have been placed in the Library of the House.

Mrs. Michie

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if the Rimnet monitoring equipment will be used to provide the public with information about a domestic nuclear accident.

Mr. Moynihan

Yes.
