To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will give the dates and methods by which he published the current financial and other objectives on determinations applicable to London Regional Transport under the terms of section 16 of the London Regional Transport Act 1984; and what period of time elapsed between publishing those objectives and the closing of public comment on the first draft of the first strategic plan of London Regional Transport.

The only objectives hitherto set under section 16 of the London Regional Transport Act 1984 are those set in the then Secretary of State's letter to the chairman of London Regional Transport of 20 July 1984. The text of that letter was reproduced in Hansard, on 20 July 1984 at columns 373–74, and in a departmental press notice of the same date. London Regional Transport conducted a public consultation on its first statement of strategy the following spring. The closing date for comments was 10 May 1985.
