To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate the number of recipients of supplementary benefit heating allowances prior to April; and if he will list them by category of claim.

The latest information from which the number of supplementary benefit claimants receiving weekly heating additions can be extracted shows that 2,829,000 claimants are receiving a heating addition. The number of heating additions in payments broken down by category of heating addition is as follows:
