§ 71. Mr. KirkwoodTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what further steps he proposes to take to alleviate the adverse financial effects of current green pound rates on the agricultural industry in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. MacGregorDecisions on the green pound rates are best taken during the price fixing. § 22. Mr. John MarshallTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement about recent changes in the level of the green pound.
§ Mr. MacGregorGreen pound changes are best made at the time of the price fixing. At the last price fixing in June 1987, devaluations were agreed of 7 percentage points for beef and 5.5 percentage points for most other products. This gave us a better outcome than any of our major EC competitors.
