Department, from agencies of his Department and from other Government agencies in Wales, to community halls, centres and community sports facilities in Wales.

Mr. Peter Walker

Assistance may be available from the Department under the urban programme and the voluntary youth service village hall and community centre project. The Sports Council for Wales can provide assistance and the Manpower Services Commission can help through its community project scheme. Local authorities may also provide assistance under their various powers.

In addition, other agencies in Wales may also provide specific financial assistance if the criteria of their individual grant regimes are met; in particular the Development Board for Rural Wales can provide assistance under the Development of Rural Wales Act 1976, the Wales tourist board can assist projects which will improve tourist amenities and facilities under the Development of Tourism Act 1969 and assistance may be available in the South Cardiff urban development area from the Cardiff Bay development corporation. Also, European regional development fund grant aid is available for leisure and sports facilities if they are linked to the promotion of tourism.
