§ Mrs. ChalkerDuring his official visit to Britain last July my right hon. and learned Friend and I made clear to the then Turkish Foreign Minister, Mr. Halefoglu, our view that his Government should reduce the number of their troops in Cyprus. we continue to press this view on the Turkish Government at every opportunity.
§ 53. Mr. FallonTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he next intends to discuss Turkey's accession to the European Economic Community with his counterparts in the Community.
§ Mrs. ChalkerTurkey's application to join the European Community has been referred to the EC Commission, which is preparing its opinion. The European Community Council of Ministers will consider Turkey's application once that opinion is available and it has had the opportunity to study it.
