§ Mr. David MitchellThe opening of the Channel tunnel will make it possible for British Rail to provide through passenger and freight services between regional destinations and the continent. Section 40 of the Channel Tunnel Act requires BR to publish a plan by the end of 1989 setting out its proposals for international rail services through the tunnel. It will be consulting widely with interested parties in the regions in the preparation of this plan.
