HC Deb 02 March 1988 vol 128 c576W
Mr. William Powell

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether there are any changes in the cash limits set for 1987–88 on his Department's Votes.

Mr. Lilley

The Vote for 1987–88 for Customs and Excise (class XIX, vote 2), of £441,125,000 is to be reduced by £243,000 to £440,882,000. This is due to a corresponding overspend on the Department's Vote for 1986–87. It is standard practice for such an overspend to be deducted from the following year's cash limit. The small overspend arose mainly as a result of difficulties with a new computerised accounting system.
