§ 46. Mr. Andrew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's current policy with regard to the participation of the Khmer Rouge in any future Cambodian Government.
§ Mr. EggarWe withdrew recognition from the Pol Pot regime in December 1979 and have no intention of contributing to its re-establishment. We believe that free and fair elections based on United Nations principles offer the best guarantee that the Khmer Rouge does not dominate any future Cambodian Government.
