§ Mr. Lawson[holding answer 5 February 1988]: Approximately 55 per cent. of the foreshore of England and Wales is part of the Crown estate. Of the remainder, the bulk of it is owned by the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall.
The Crown Estate Commissioners lease about 280 miles of foreshore to wildlife conservation organisations. The organisations and approximate amounts are as set out:
