HC Deb 01 March 1988 vol 128 c551W
Mr. Gould

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what will be the financial effect of the loss of disability premium and the reduction in disregard on people recovering from mental illness seeking work.

Mr. Scott

People who qualify for the disability premium solely on grounds of their incapacity for work will lose the premium, and they may lose the higher earnings disregard when they become capable of work again. The disability premium will be £13.05 for a single person or lone parent and £18.60 for a member of a couple. The higher earnings disregard will be £15; the normal earnings disregard will be £5.
